Have only used it for fresh tomatoes so far. I agree with other's reviews that the manufacturers directions leave a lot to be desired. Followed other reviews and intended to run them through 3 times. After twice however, we realized there was no more to be had. The only thing that bothered was the amount of pulp I found while dismantling it. Am hoping to find a better way in the future to not leave so much usable material in the sink. Will experiment with it next time before just tossing everything in the sink. Cleaning was fairly straight-forward. Stores easily in the box. Does the job I bought it for in spades.

The FVSP works well, but the only down side is that if you are doing small batches of friuts or veggies the cleanup takes a bit longer than I would like it to. If you just wanted to make a glass of juice every morning I would but a stand alone juicer. In large batches it works well and is worth it. It is a cheeper alternitive to buying a fruit press for homemade ciders and wines. By the way, water mellon juice is awesome.

My friend in Oregon told me about the fruit strainer that she got for her KitchenAid mixer. So I went looking and found that since I already had the Food Grinder, I only needed the FVSP for it. Saved some money & made the attachment I had serve even better.

This attachment is wonderful, I love it and wish I'd bought this sooner. Now when I make homemade Apple Butter, I don't even have to peel my apples. Just cook them up and pass them through the machine, the applesauce comes out one side and the peels go out the other.

I think this would be great for making strained fruits for baby too.

I live in Southern New Hampshire, surrounded by apple orchards. Every fall my family makes a project out of canning homemade applesauce. We buy "B-grade" apples at the orchards for very little money. The result is a product of stunning quality and flavor that simply cannot be purchased commercially at any price. It is also less expensive than commercial applesauce, so we have a win-win. We usually process 3-5 bushels of apples. If you aren't familiar with these quantities, it's a LOT of apples. The KitchenAid FVSP Fruit and Vegetable Strainer takes the labor and time out of what would otherwise be a rather tiresome job. We first core and roughly slice the apples (no need to remove skins) and cook them until they are soft in a about an inch of water. We then process the cooked apples through the strainer and voila, the skins pop out the side and applesauce drains out the bottom. It could not be easier. Note this strainer is an attachment to the KitchenAid food grinder. You must have the strainer, food grinder and a KitchenAid mixer in order to have a functional strainer appliance. This strainer is the only way to go when making large quantities of applesauce. I'm sure it will also find other uses in our kitchen, too.

I've had my Sunbeam Mixmaster Standmixer w/Burst for at least 4 years now, used it dozens of times, and have never had any problems (better production year maybe?). It has all the fancy attachments...but I've never used them. Probably because I forgot I have them! Mixers only came with one set of beaters when I was growing up and you mixed/beat/whipped EVERYTHING with that ONE set. That's what I still do. In fact, tonight I made chocolate chip cookie dough using the standard beaters...they came out PERFECT! Some of you may have a problem with it tipping over after you remove the bowl because the mixer head IS a bit heavy for the stand (after all, it is only hollow plastic). But if you drop the head back down after using (and for storing) you should be all right. I'm getting ready to buy one of these mixers for my mother-in-law because she really liked mine. Hope she has the same good luck!

I got this mixer two weeks ago, today is February 25, I received it February 13th. IT was brand new, still in original packaging. It broke on me today part way through a batch of cookies. It just quit. It wasn't hot, I didn't overheat it, or over work it, it just shut itself off like it had enough and hasn't started up again since. I am contacting Sunbeam to see if they will do something about it, but since it was bought a few years ago and just not used until recently, and I wasn't the original buyer, it was sent to me as a gift, I highly doubt they will. Absolute CRAP!!
