All I can say is that these are worth ANY price, for what they give in return. It looks like they have an actual hole in the top, but its just a 2'' or so deep point that is recessed area to allow the kitchenaid top to be down when the cap is on the bowl. It's sooo nice because I can put some of my mixer attachments in the bowl and then put the lid on them, and nothing gets dirty even if I don't use it for a week. They wash very easily, which is ALWAYS a plus, and allow me to store things in the fridge!!!! Totally worth any cost for the convenience!

These are wonderful. I was never able to leave my bowl with my Kitchenaid pivot head mixer, which is on the counter, because of dust. I now not only have the bowl in place, but I store the dough hook, wisk and beater blade inside. I store my extra bowl in a cabinet with the second lid on top of that to keep the dust out. The indentation in the center of the lid accepts the 'stem' from the machine just perfectly.

I had really hoped based on some of the previous reviews this was the King of can openers. Well I have had this attachment and used it a fair bit for a year, maybe actually even two now and have to officially declare it no better then any other o.k. at best electric can opener. It really only works sometimes on some cans and usually take several revolutions just like most electric can openers. It only gets worse with time just like most electric can openers. Far too often you are left with a lid you have to open the rest of the way with a manual can opener just like most electric can openers. It sticks out of the front of the kitchen aid like an ugly sore thumb unlike most can openers.



I still find a good manual can openers to be far superior to any electric option. It's funny when you think how long cans have been around and how hard it is to find an easy powered way to open any can automatically and efficiently.

I chose the reconditioned model due to the significant price savings, and am very happy with my choice. Although the box and manual clearly indicate that the product is reconditioned, and it doesn't come with the pour shield for the bowl, the mixer itself was in perfect condition, and there we just a few very minor scratches inside the bowl. Those scratches are the sort of thing you might get in your first use of the bowl. This mixer is strong, and doesn't seem noisy to me at all. It's certainly MUCH quieter than our hand mixer. Some higher end KitchenAid mixers have a bowl-lift feature, but I actually prefer to be able to tip the whole head backward and out of the way to get the bowl out. So far, we've made banana bread and a few batches of mashed potatoes using this mixer, and are very pleased with the results.

I love my kitchenaid. It is great for making pizza doughs and bringing the mixing bowl directly to the fridge to chill and rise overnight. Great mixing ability and makes baking fun, even though sometimes using flour can be a mess :). Easy to clean bowl, try to get this product when it goes on sale. I just received my Beater Blade for my 6 quart Kitchenaid Mixer today. So I whipped up a batch of cupcakes and frosting to test it out. I'm typing this while the cupcakes are cooling. You should do yourself a favor, if you are a baker, stop reading, and order this immediately!!! I'm that impressed! It creamed butter and sugar so fast that I didn't have time to measure out the flour. The creamed mixture was smooth and airy and completely mixed in just a few moments, and no scraping needed. The cake batter came out perfectly smooth, and it went so fast, I didn't worry about developing the gluten.

Rose Levy Berenbaum recommended this on her blog, and that was all the encouragement I needed to get off the fence and order this. It is the perfect addition to take an already wonderful mixer to the next level. I would give it 10 stars if they let me!!!

Okay, first...this thing is great for mixing. It mixes well, scrapes everything off the sides and does exactly what it says it will. Okay, now the warning. It will come apart if you're not careful. I have 3 of them. 2 of them have come apart. Granted, I use them a LOT, but it is not the use that has done this. The 2 that have come apart have been destroyed due to the dishwasher. That's why I still gave it 4 stars and not lower...but I couldn't give it 5 stars because it says it is dishwasher safe. Well, I've used the third one the most and only hand washed it each time and it has survived much longer. That being said, I use these for mixing creams in a laboratory, and my dishwasher gets a few degrees hotter (not much, but I figured it's worth mentioning) than a normal dishwasher so that may be the culprit. All in all, I still recommend this to anyone. Even using it every single day and washing it in the dishwasher every day, you can get several months out of it...and for how well it works, it's worth it.

I love this thing. Honestly, I cannot believe someone didn't think of it sooner. I don't ever use the beater that came with my KitchenAid stand mixer anymore because this one is far superior. I used to have a problem with ingredients at the bottom of the bowl and on the sides not getting mixed in, but this basically makes sure that you get everything incorporated into whatever you're mixing. At first, I thought it seemed lightweight because it was plastic, but it has turned out to be as good a workhorse as my mixer!
