Purchased from Amazon and have had the mixer for a few months now. I have baked a few cakes and several dozen cookies and used this unit to mix the batter. Wouldn't exactly call myself a "power user" but it has been a pleasure to use and it sure "beats" doing it by hand. I got the red color and I think it looks HOT!

Man, I LOVE my Kitchenaid stand mixer! I've had mine for over five years, and it's never let me down! I've made countless cheesecakes from scratch with it (always to rave reviews - I'm told they're far better than what you can get in any restaurant), I've made pasta with it, tons of cookies, and quarts and quarts of ice cream with it (using the ice cream maker attachment, which also ABSOLUTELY rocks)! Of all of the things that I have in my kitchen, this is one of my top two culinary items. It's durable, attractive, and can handle just about anything that you can throw at it (or in it, for that matter)!
Long story short, if you don't have a stand mixer yet, and are thinking about picking one up, don't hesitate any longer. No, Kitchenaid stand mixers are not exactly inexpensive, but I fully expect this one to run beautifully for my full lifetime. I'll be truly surprised if this isn't something that I can pass on to my children - if I don't decide to have it buried with me! ; ) This item may be an investment for you, but it'll be worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY that you spend on it! Trust me on that!

My KitchenAid Artisan is amazing. I bought it to use with gluten-free flours, and it does a wonderful job of mixing them, regardless of the recipe. In 2 weeks, I've used it for bread, pizza dough, and muffins. It certainly lives up to it's #1 reputation.
