 "Powerful, helpful, and trendy!" 2009-09-27
By Boston_Mel (Boston, MA)
Excellent hand mixer! At first, I was torn between getting the 5-speed, 7-speed, or the 9-speed. I was afraid that the 5-speed would not be as powerful as the latter two. However, I ended up going with the 5-speed as a trial and because it was much cheaper! Needless to say, the 5-speed has done the job! I hardly ever go up to the top 2 speeds anyway and my baking and cooking has become much faster and more efficient with this hand mixer! There are 3 different types of attachments: the regular whisk-like ones as pictured, a cork-screw looking attachment for mixing thicker ingredients such as dough, and a stick attachment for smoothies. All attachments work great and are very easy to clean. I would highly recommend this item! The Kitchenaid brand is reliable and it compliments other Kitchenaid items in my kitchen!

"I've had mine for fifteen years and it's still going strong" 2009-03-24

I can't believe the bad reviews for this mixer. Mine was purchased in November 1993 and has been one of the most reliable small appliances I have ever owned. Those of you who are griping about making chocolate chip cookies with a hand mixer are cretins. Either go easy and use a slower speed or shake out a few more shekels for a stand mixer and quit complaining.

 "Wimpy" 2009-01-11

I assumed that because it was a KitchenAid it was a quality appliance. WRONG, this thing can barely handle cake batter, anything heavier and it bogs down. The high speed is really not very fast even with no load so whipping is slow. My $25 Hamilton Beach runs circles around this mixer.

Warning about this mixer. I bought a cheap mixer about 2 years ago.Idid not expect it to last long, but it worked for about 2years.I thought I would buy a top of the line next and bought a Kitchen Aide.About the Third time my wife used it the switch had to be mashed three time or to come on. That lasted about two months and it finally quit.Check Amazons rating on this one and buy a different brand.

"Junk! Beater broke apart while beating frosting." 2008-12-23
By Amherst Mom (United States)
Before this mixer I had a hand mixer I bought for $10 at Walmart and had it for 8 years, never a problem. I paid over $50.00 for this 13 months ago and at first the beater seemed loose but I didn't think much of it then while mixing frosting the metal prongs on one of the beaters all detached at the same time leaving me with only one side operational to finish my daughter's cupcakes for school. I have never been more unhappy with a product in my life. It is a complete waste of money. The speed is very slow and every once in awhile it just pauses for no reason. Garbage, don't waste your money.
