 "KitchenAid Juicer" 2009-08-19
By Rhonda Cartan (Washougal river)
I had a choice of buying a regular juicer or this for about the same price. I thought I could save kitchen space buying this attachment, but it's not big enough for grapefruit. You really have to move the fruit around to get all the juice. I wish it came with a larger reemer for the larger citrus fruit since grapefruit is usually what I juice.

"Kitchen Aid Juicer is a real plus" 2009-08-12
By R. Francis (Sonoma County, CA)
I bought it, tried it, and I like it. Still have to push on the fruit, but no wrist strain. After making a gallon of orange juice by hand, I decided I couldnt do that anymore, and this does the trick.

 "A Miserable Design Defect" 2009-07-04
By Barbara (California)
The juicer splatters juice everywhere near it. The little pulp strainer constantly falls off into the juice. It is an ergonomic disaster, since you have to bend your wrist up, push forward, and resist the machine. We're getting a separate juicer and ditching this disaster.

"Aging hands need less twisting motion" 2009-07-04
By Texas Professor (Texas)
KitchenAid JE Citrus Juicer Stand Mixer Attachment Aging hands prompted me to purchase this item to eliminate the twisting motion needed for hand juicers. My first use was to process about three dozen key limes. While not completely eliminated, the twisting motion was definitely minimized. Because the unit mounts vertically, I had to push each lime half forward while holding the edges around the twirling utensil, a technique that took a while to master (for such tiny fruits) and resulted in my hand cramping. Even so, the twisting motion was greatly minimized (though still not completely eliminated). And the processing time was substantially less than it would have been without the attachment. I expect I will be more pleased when I process larger fruits.

"Take advantage of the powerful mixing bowls motor" 2009-06-28
By N. Barnard (Plain, Washington)
As Others have stated, don't bother with the included strainer. If you use the included strainer, it clogs up after two fruit halves and must be cleaned out drastically slowing down the process. I don't use a strainer at all for the first step, just allowing all of the fruit to collect in a bowl, and then I use a medium sized wire-mesh basket strainer to catch the pulp. Using quick circular motions with a medium sized spoon I press the juice through the strainer collecting it into an appropriate container.

The real advantage of this setup is that the Kitchen Aid mixer has a much more powerfull motor than probably any household citrus juicer. This means that no matter how firmly you press the fruit into the reamer, the motor will never stop. This is one of the significant drawbacks of many home juicers: that the motor stops when you apply significant pressure, thus preventing a thorough extraction.

Maybe not perfect, but really really good. Especially if you already have the mixer, I would highly recommend this attachment.
