"Don't throw away your box..." 2009-05-01
By Anne (Baltimore, MD)
I owned a 375 watt 5 qt stand mixer for 13 years. I have wanted this mixer for probably 5 years now. I finally found it on sale at a local store with a good rebate. Unfortunately, I forgot and threw away the box right away--it was huge after all! Kitchenaid would not honor the rebate without the UPC from the box. No other proof of my purchase would suffice. So be careful not to throw away your box before cutting off the UPC if you are going to be submitting a rebate to Kitchenaid.

But, the second reason I have given it 2 stars is the actual mixer itself. It does not mix as well as my 5 qt mixer. I cook for a family of 5--2 adults and 3 children. I use my mixer all the time. I have to use the shield with it every time I use it because it spits out flour, etc. if I don't. This means one more thing to wash every time I use it. This mixer also is not as flexible--it does not do smaller recipes as well as my old mixer did.

And finally, I wanted this mixer because I thought my old one rocked unneccessarily. Wrong!! This one rocks as well. And you are only supposed to use the dough hook on speed 2.

All in all, I would not recommend spending the extra money on this mixer. Save the extra money and buy the 5 qt. I think you will be much happier in the long run!

 "Kitchen ache" 2009-04-20
By J. Chang (Reston, VA)
Mine died after one month past its warrenty. The shaft that holding the attachment was falling! Which you can't fix by yourself becasue it was air-compressed to the place. Sending back to the factory won't make sense. For one, it cost $150.00 or more. Secondly, it is doomed to happen again becuase it is a design flaw. Googled how to fix kitchenaid pro 600, you will be amazed by the numbers of people owning a broken Kitchenaid mixer.

I should have seriously considered the negative reviews. I didn't realize that Kitchenaid was no longer made by Hobart which earns the previous models amazing reputation. Sad to have to add a big trash to the landfill.

 "Don"t buy this mixer!!!" 2009-04-17

My Kitchenaid 600 never worked right-it was so loud from day one you couldn't hear anything else-after 90 days it stopped-after $125 repair it worked better for a few months then stopped during Cinnamon Rolls (soft dough and only a half batch) another $95 it kinda works-i bought many of the attachments and this is what keeps me from throwing it in the trash!! Save yourself alot of money and go with another brand!!!!

"Had it over a year now..." 2009-02-05
By TypicalConsumer (Austin, TX USA)
... and I do love the mixer. I've noticed I use it at lower speeds than my last Kitchenaid - which makes sense as it is more powerful. It has handled almost everything very well, from whipped cream to cookies to medium doughs - but as another reviewer noted, it can't handle the load claimed by the manufacturer (14 cups all-purpose flour). Mine bogs down at 10 cups, and I finish by hand - which I actually like to do, but if you don't want to do any hand kneading, make sure you cut your recipes accordingly. As always, Amazon has delivered exactly what I ordered - and at the best price.

 "Better than Artisan" 2009-02-01
By R. Pitts (Atlanta, GA)
Going in, I had my doubts about buying a Professional series verses Artisan series mixer. I don't doubt anymore, this was the best investment I made for my kitchen. It's helped me in numerous recipes when I could have used an extra pair of hands for complex mixing. I love the accessories and NOW, I can even make HOMEMADE Butter!!!!!!!!!! Love it!
